RAID RULES
Raid style PIF is a casual, family oriented social guild first and foremost. When we do raid as a guild, we focus on 10 man content. Our members are not required to raid, and those whom do choose to participate in PIF raids are not required to attend a set number of raids per week. On the other side of that coin, however, is that we take the raiding that we do participate in very seriously. Our goals with regard to raiding 10 man content are to consistently progress and reach the point where we have mastered the encounters. We want to be successful, and our raiding rules reflect that desire.
Raid schedule The dates and times of our scheduled raids have not been set for the Cataclysm content at this time.
Signing up Sign ups will be performed via the in-game calendar. Do not sign up unless you fully expect to be able to attend.
Attendance If a member signs up to attend a raid, they must take it seriously. If you are unable to show up for a raid you signed up for, remove your name from the in-game calendar and inform an officer as quickly as you can. Note that "attendance" means to be in game on the character in question, logged on to Ventrillo in the Raid Hall channel, with the appropriate consumables in your backpack, ready to go. We are a casual guild, but one cannot "casually" raid and expect to be successful. Each member that chooses to sign up for a raid must make a commitment to attendance. Each raid is taking the time of nine other people, and a failure to attend by one person hurts everyone else. The first time a member fails to be in attendance for a raid that they have signed up for will result in a warning. The second time will result in that player being denied the opportunity to participate the next time they sign up for and attend a raid.
Invite rules We base invites on a variety of factors consisting of raid requirements and roles that need to be filled, which may vary per day or week. We aim to keep things fair, but the requirements of the raid group and the ability of the selected team to successfully complete the raid objectives will factor heavily into the selection process. Gear requirements A participant's gear needs to match the requirements of the raid. Currently an average Item Level of 340 will be required to participate. Make sure that you have gear to match your character's specialization, and that it is suitably enchanted and gemmed. No PvP gear is permitted. A "raiding council" consisting of management staff and experienced raiders will collectively examine and determine each prospective participant to determine eligibility and will suggest/advise prospective raid members of any changes that need to be made.
Preparation Arriving for a raid prepared is vital. A raid with a large (25, 40, etc) number of participants can sometimes afford to have one or two poorly performing participants if the rest of the raid group is highly experienced. However, in a 10-man raid environment, this is definitely not the case. Being prepared includes being familiar with the raid content via research/reading or speaking with experienced raiders ahead of time, as well as bringing food, potions, flasks and reagents.
Required mods Deadly Boss Mods and Ventrillo are required. You do not need a microphone for Ventrilo, but you must be using it so that you are able to hear the direction of the raid leader.
Disconnects Although we understand that unexpected Internet outages are not the fault of the member who is experiencing them, after the fourth time a member is disconnected in a single raid, they will be asked to give up their spot for the good of the raid as a whole.
Loot rules: * We currently use a random roll for loot. o /roll 100 for main spec o /roll 99 if you already won a main spec item o /roll 98 for off spec o /roll 97 if you already won an off spec item * No loot is reserved. * BOE gear will be treated as BOP gear - the winner MUST equip and show the RL that he is using the item. If no one can use the item, it will be put in to the guild bank * Recipes and patterns will be greeded by those that can learn them right then. You must link your profession.
Guidelines
1. Have fun: PIF strives to have a positive, fun raiding experience, regardless of whether we are having a successful night, or if we keep wiping on trash mobs before reaching the first boss. If you find that you are consistently not having fun, perhaps raiding is not for you!
2. Rage-quit: Don't do it. If you find yourself becoming very upset due to the poor performance of the raid, let one of the officers know and they will assist you. Do not yell, swear, and most importantly do not abruptly leave the raid. Leaving the rest of your companions in the lurch is a serious violation and will result in the member being denied the opportunity to raid the next four (4) raids that they sign up and are in attendance for.
3. Accountability: If you made a mistake and cause a wipe or other unpleasant event, take credit for the error and let the rest of the raid know. You will be treated with respect.
4. Pay It Forward: Mistakes happen to young and old. Consider that when learning a new encounter or when someone makes a mistake. Just as you wish to be treated with respect if you make a mistake, treat others with the same respect. Nothing breaks down morale like finger-pointing, and conversely, nothing builds up morale after a wipe than a positive attitude. If a member does require corrective action to prevent further errors, allow the raid leader to handle it.
5. Let the Raid leader do their job: The time to discuss tactics or offer alternative strategies is outside the raid. When the raid is in progress, do not interrupt tactical explanations. It is vital that each member follows the team’s tactics instead of your own. If you are asked to assist with tactics, you may do so, but not until that point. Likewise, only the raid leader or raid assist will call a wipe or for a battle rez. In short, the effectiveness of a raid depends on each participant adhering to a plan and following the direction of a single individual when the heat is on.
