I am very very sad and dissapointed.  The dish was going to be installed Saturday (tomorrow) and I think i'll be cancelling the service.

When looking over the services and doing research I found that the service has a "Fair Access Policy" which basically states - You can download 169 Megs with a 47k Per sec refresh.

I wasn't totally sure about it and the dealer insisted that I couldn't reach the cap because the 169 Meg was by the hour.  I got a feeling that the dealer wasn't really that bright and decided to call DirecWay myself.  I find out it's 169 Megs every 4 hours!!!  What a Joke!!!!  Hell I'd be back to 56k speed in a matter of an hour or 2.  There would be no possibility of downloading open beta or anything like that.

What a joke, don't you get broadband to download stuff?  After all these years of 56k and thinking I was finally off it...now I find I'm in the same shoes.  I'm so dissapointed.
If all else fails, run and squeal.

Hmm.. Yeah you would have to have a download manager to pause large downloads. Most of the time you probably wouldn't pass 169MB of data in 4 hours unless you were on a P2P network or something. But yeah, that does suck.. That combined with the latency and large packets and high price makes it distasteful. (Installation ranges from $300-500!!)

Actually doing the math and comparing DirecWay Vs Starban i'm keeping it.  We shoudln't have a hard time actually going over the limit.

Installation is free, activation is free and the dish is $500.  So I guess I'll still be preparing for high speed internet tomorrow!

*less frustrated*

They don't have any other plans that provide more allowed bandwidth, do they?

Yes but they get pricey.  Anyways I allready have it and it's great so far!  I logged on AC2 and it runs smoothly.  My ping was like 800 but I wasn't lagging.  Having fun with it ;D

*nods*  With enough bandwidth, a slow ping doesn't matter unless you're playing a FPS.

*cringes* Eek, hope you get better than 800 playing CS... most servers will kick you if you are above 500. (That I remember, atleast... ben quite some time since I played CS online.)

Counter Strike wasn't even installed, I was to lazy to do so.  Ya I think 800 ping is a bit much for a FPS, oh well i'd rather have this than 56k anyday.

I ran OsMV in AC2 lag free.  Sometimes I notice weird lag but overall it's very much worth it.  Heck I was just downloading music 100k Per sec +   Beats my old 3k per sec hehe.

You should be able to play and use Ventrillo with no problems as well, now.  *thumbs up*
