Mage - Pre FFB Spec

As I approach 80 with the mage, I am looking for a good 5-man heroic spec.  I understand FFB (FrostFire Bolt) is the bee's knees for raiding currently.  But without the gear, I can't support that spec yet.  A lot of websites I have read recommend a "Deep Frost" build for heroics using blizzard spam on the trash.  Any pre-FFB build recommendations would be nice.  Or if anyone thinks I could support an FFB build for heroics, that would be good information also.  Thanks!

I have noticed a surprising increase on Blizzard with my level 76 mage in regular instances (I do not have imp Bliz) As far as frostfire bolt I have used it and am enjoying the damage output with a mostly frost spec. I also will have to research a FFB build when I get her to that level.

The mages that were raiding in 25 man groups were doing an arcane spec.  I don't know what it was, but I do remember their were 3 or 4 mages in the top 6 or 7 spots.
